My Romantic Vintage Bedroom!

Every since I can remember I have loved the vintage look. Especially in my bedroom! Here are a few pictures of the "sitting area" in my room

This is the "entry" wall to my room

This is the hook under the hats. I almost hate to cover it. It is so pretty!
                                                   My vanity
My wedding dress on a dress form! Sitting area of "My room"
I got this deacons bench form someone who had it on their front porch. They actually used it to set their trash bags on so the dogs would not get it. I asked if they would like to sell it...I paid $100 for it, then retained it   and re upholstered it! I have had it INSIDE for about 18 years now!
This Antique "rose" picture came out of a house that was going to be demolished. The house belonged to an elderly man who lived next door to me when I was growing up. He told me it belonged to his Mother. I figure it is at least 100 years old!  That is "sheet music" on the left side above the white rose!
My daughter is a professional photographer. She used my room for a photo shoot. (below)The bride in this picture was going for a "vintage romantic" look, so my daughter told her she knew the perfect place to shoot!
MY ROOM! The suitcases are my "night stand"!
This is actually My daughter's wedding dress on my dress form, in my room! (below)She had a vintage wedding TOO!

DELIVERED!

I just finished a dining set for a new client! They bought this set from Pottery Barn. It has been well loved by 3 BEAUTIFUL kids, so it needed some help! I totally forgot to take before pictures OOPSIE! Just imagine it ALL BLACK. Even the top of the table and chair seats! I sanded the top of the table and chair seat totally down to the wood, then stained it a dark walnut finish. Then I distressed it all over! We sealed it with a polyurethane and VIOLA...  It looks great with their hard wood floors! Matthew & Jamie Love their new PB TABLE! I enjoyed working with them on this project. SUPER SWEET COUPLE!

Old Barn Door = New Head Board!

I scorded this awesome old Barn Door at a garage sale! I love the natural chippy look! It will make a great head board for someone!

Linky Party #1

Celebrating Home

If you have visited my blog, I hope you have checked out my other website Celebrating Home! Here is a great idea shared from another designer "Grace"! This is from our Christmas Collection! This is SWEET! Grace found the sugared fruit slices she used for the candy topiaries at either Whole Foods or Central market. She's also spied them at World Market and Cracker Barrel. If none of those are near you, she suggests looking for them on-line by typing in "sugared fruit slices. www.celebratinghome.com/sites/melissa123

Old Dreser = New Buffet

I got this old dresser from a friend of mine! She buys out storage units, and comes across some great JUNK! First we gave it a good ol' fashion sanding! Then we painted the bottom part Paris Gray, and stained the top dark walnut! We kept the original hardware because it looked FANTABULOUS! I sold this baby before the paint dried! whoop whoop!!!

Trailer Trash!

Ok, so I was driving down the road minding my own business....when all of a sudden....I spot a trailer with a bunch of trash on it! Mostly old tin stuff. Of course, I "goose necked", and to my SUPRISE, right there in the middle of the trailer, there it was.....an old box spring mattress! I hit the breaks, backed up, and jumped out of the truck and went to the door! NO ONE WAS HOME. UGGGG. So the next day I drove back by, no one home...I left a note this time saying "I would like to buy the old box springs on the back of your trailer please call me if you would like to sell it!  About an hour later I got the call! YIPPIE...I got it for $10. Check back soon to see what I am going to do with my new treasure!!!!!!!!!

Black Distressed Cabinets

Check out this awesome kitchen transformation! This is my friend Amanda and her hubby Gerald's Kitchen! It's amazing how a can of paint and some sand paper can totally renovate your Kitchen! First we used a liquid sander/deglosser and wiped down every cabinet. This keeps the dust from sanding from going everywhere in your house. It primes the surface with way less mess! Then once that dries, we painted the surface 2 coats. Let that dry over night, then go back with 80 grit sandpaper and scratch the "raised" areas! See before and after pictures. Please leave me a comment to let me know what cha think! PLEASE forgive the poor quality of the pictures. My next investment is a new camera! This is from my cell phone camera!
