This was the perfect opportunity to try home made CHALK PAINT! So...here we go.
I got the Plaster of Paris used some green paint I already had.
I used 1/4 Plaster of Paris and 2/3 paint and a little water!
I LOVE how I did not have to prime, and it dries SUPER FAST!
After I painted (2 coats) I distressed all the raised areas
then I used dark walnut stain to give it an aged look.
I am going to decoupage something on the top. I am open to ALL SUGGESTIONS
from all of you super talented BLOGGERS! Please post your comments!
If you are not yet following me, I would be honored, and If you don't see your blog link on my page please let me know so I can add you!
P.S. I will DEF be making more of my OWN CHALK PAINT!
Thank you: nominimalisthere.blogspot.com for your blog on how to make CHALK PAINT!
FOR the NEW TOP, I decoupaged carpenters paper, stained it dark walnut and added the stencil!
Hi Melissa!
ReplyDeleteI just found you while browsing through a linky party at Miss Mustard Seed's. I love what you did with this little desk. And thank you for posting about homemade chalk paint. I just recently discovered chalk paint and wanted to try it. Since I've got some leftover paint in the garage, I think I'll make my own too and see how my project (I'm redoing a small dresser to use as a buffet/microwave holder) turns out.

If you haven't decided what to decoupage on top of the desk, go check out The Graphics Fairy. She's got lots of great (and FREE) vintage images from which to choose. I'm thinking about decoupaging (or waterslide decal-ing) one onto the front of my dresser/buffet. Can't wait to see how your desk turns out.
ReplyDeleteI sure like what you did to your $2 desk. You turned it into a real beauty!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your linking your creative project to Potpourri Friday!
